ECB’s Centeno expects inflation under 3% by the end of 2023

Bank of Portugal Governor and member of the European Central Bank Governing Council Mario Centeno spoke over the weekend, at the same event as Banque de France head Villeroy:

• ECB’s Villeroy expects the Bank’s interest rates to peak soon, and plateau for a long time

Centeno is expecting a relatively rapid low down for the rate of inflation:

• “Inflation is coming down faster than the way up”
• “We need to fuel this process and be very confident we can make it”
• Said that the EZ labour market is the “strongest” it’s ever been
