The major US indices are closing the day higher, with the S&P and NASDAQ closing at new record levels
The Dow industrial average and the small-cap Russell 2000 led the way on the day.
A snapshot of the closing levels shows:
- Dow industrial average rose 192.40 points or 0.43% at 44650.70.
- S&P index closed up 17.14 points or 0.27% at 6280.40. The high close was at 6279.25 on July 3
- NASDAQ index closed up 19.33 points or 0.09% at 20630.66. Yesterday the index closed at a record
- Russell 2000 of small-cap stocks rose 10.92 points or 0.48% at 2263.41.
Shares of Nvidia closed at $164.10 which was above the $4 trillion market capitalization level.
The gains today, despite a 50% tariff on imports from Brazil and a 50% tariff on copper and other goods starting August 1.
Some winners today were led by the airline stocks. Tessa shares rose 4.73% is a petitioned Phoenix for robo taxis. Below are some of the bigger gainers today
