Major European indices close to sharply higher. The UK FTSE 100 closed at a new record. In Spain’s Ibex also closed at a new record.
The steps of the closing levels shows:
- German DAX, +1.65%
- France’s CAC, +1.32%
- UK’s FTSE 100 +1.08% at 9787.14. That closed higher than the November fit record high close at 9777.07
- Spain’s Ibex, +1.77% at 16182.50. That was higher than the October 29 high closing level at 16150.10.
- Italy’s FTSE MIB +2.28%. That was good enough for the highest close going back to May 2007.
As European traders head for the exits, US stocks are higher:
- Dow industrial average up 181 points or 0.39% at 47170
- S&P index up 77.5 points or 1.15% at 6806.20
- NASDAQ index up 429 points or 1.87% at 23434.
The small-cap Russell 2000 is up 26.99 points or 1.11% at 2459.81.
The U.S. Treasury will auction off $58 billion 3 year notes at 1 PM.. The US bond market will be closed tomorrow in observance of Veterans Day. The US stock indices will be open.
