Major US indices are closing mixed. The Dow industrial average which got within four points of a record level at the close yesterday, but backed off by -316.38 points or -0.70% to 44693.91.
- The S&P index was up marginally by 4.44 points or 0.07% at 6363.35.
- The NASDAQ index rose by 37.94 points or 0.18% at 21057.96.
Chip stocks were higher with Nvidia rising by 1.72%, Broasdcom up by 1.77% and AMD up by 2.19%
Intel which reported after the close, fell by -3.66% ahead of earnings. The shares are trading up near 1%.
