Bloomberg today reports that US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent once listed two different properties as a ‘primary residence’ at the same time. It’s the same thing that the US President is using to try to justify the firing of Fed Governor Lisa Cook.
On Sept. 20, 2007, he agreed that a seven-bedroom Georgian manor he was buying in Bedford Hills, New York, would be his “principal residence” over the next year. On the same day, he made the same residency pledge about a beachfront house in Provincetown, Massachusetts.
Bloomberg highlights that there are differences in that Bessent’s loans were with the same lender on the same day.
“I have no intention of being bullied to step down from my position because of some questions raised in a tweet,” Cook said in a statement last month.
Cook will remain in her position as the case moves through the courts.
