The major US stocks are closing little changed on the day.
The major US indices are all closing within 0.03% of unchanged. SInce the S&P closed at a record level yesterday, the 0.02% gain was good enough for a record close. IN contrast, the -0.01% decline in the Nasdaq index was not good enough for that record.
The final numbers are showing:
- Dow industrial average down 11.01 points or -0.02% at 44911.26.
- S&P index up 1.96 points or 0.03% at 6468.54.
- NASDAQ index down -2.47 points or -0.01% at 21710.67.
The small-cap Russell 2000 fell -28.97 points or -1.24% at 2299.08.
Shares of Intel closed up $1.64 or 7.3% at $23.86. The stock surged after a Bloomberg report that the Trump administration was discussing the US taking a stake in the company. The talks followed the meeting between the CEO and Trump on Monday. It was thought that meeting was to clear the air after Trump’s insistence that the CEO resigned as a result of his close involvement with China companies.
Looking at other chip companies,
- Nvidia closed up 0.24%,
- AMD fell -1.88% and
- Broadcom rose 0.69%
Netflix shares rose by $26.12 or 2.17% retracing the declines from yesterday. Amazon rose 2.86%.
