BOJ governor Ueda: We are at a phase where we can slowly proceed with possible rate hikes

I reckon the key word in the headline remark is slowly. The worry here is that if the BOJ draws this out for too long, we might start to see inflation pressures trend lower in year ahead – as it might be the case elsewhere around the globe. If so, what then for the BOJ? Are they just going to sit on their hands after this “historic” move?
