China mainland and Hong Kong equites higher in opening trade

On Wednesday in China:

• ICYMI – PBOC to cut reserve requirement ratio by 50bp from 5 February

There have been further supportive efforts over past days:

• China mulls stock market rescue package backed by $278 bn
• Chinese authorities have ‘asked’ funds to restrict short selling stock index futures

Chinese shares have risen from their lows and have sustained the gains, added to them, so far today.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng is up around 0.6% while the Shanghai Composite is up around 1.2%:
